Reducing thermal bridges is a key consideration when installing stone wool – as these can account for heat losses of up to 30 percent, even in an insulated construction³.

These bridges occur when a surface transfers more heat than the surrounding material. Stone wool insulation, however, is far less conductive than common building materials such as metals. It therefore acts to reduce the transfer of heat when properly installed⁴.

Top tips:

Measure insulation boards, slabs or rolls and the space to be insulated accurately, to prevent gaps. This will help to combat thermal bridging even further.
Use an appropriate tool to cut the boards and ensure a clean finish.

As the International Energy Agency (IEA) notes, the buildings we live and work in account for 30 percent of global energy use, and 28 percent of total carbon dioxide emissions.
